So, I have downloaded and installed Google’s Chrome browser. After using it for a few minutes now, here are my first impressions.

Fast: It’s damn fast. Right out of the box, it renders html VERY quickly and javascript execution is incredibly fast.

UI: It’s tabbed based interface seems to feel very familiar to me as a faithful Firefox user. It looks like it does subtle things well, like spell checking text fields.

Strange: Out of the box, the ‘home’ button is hidden on the toolbar. Looks like Google really wants to push their new ‘portal’ page managed by the browser.

I sorely miss my delicious.com plugin already. And Adblock pro … ugh — I forgot how many ads are on so many sites.

RSS feeds just go to the feed page itself (WTF!), it doesn’t prompt me to add the feed to a feed reader (eww — how 1999) ala Firefox.

Update 9:20pm: Looks like I can use the delicious.com bookmarklets to add / manage my delicious bookmarks with chrome. It’s a stopgap that will (hopefully) be temporary.
